Singapore's role as a major trade hub may mean a high carbon footprint for business and transport, and the carbon heavy liftestyle (indoor malls, extensive air conditioning, high car use) seem relatively unsustainable. But the government has introduced a serious eco programme to be completed by 2030 - https://www.greenplan.gov.sg/overview/.
The city is increasingly verdant, with a dedicated department handling planting and maintenance along with another to oversee their activities, plus encouragement of planting on new buildings. There is also a growing range of solar panel installations plus policies to reduce waste and an extensive and growing public transport network and heavy taxation on private vehicles as well as a programme of significant waste reduction and lessening of water use.
Other administrations could learn a lot from how well this is working.
